Matt Roy Blue Ocean CEO

Matt Roy


Matt Roy is the founder and President of Blue Ocean Benefits & Consulting. Back in 2012, when the Affordable Care Act drove many brokers and consultants to sell out to big shops or retire early, Matt seized the opportunity to build a consulting practice dedicated to helping business owners navigate the complex new laws and implement the best possible benefits strategy for their company and employees.

Matt has extensive experience in both the small group (2-50) and mid-sized (51+) markets, including self-funded business and alternative funding arrangements. He has been involved with the decision-making process for thousands of groups as a sales person, manager and consultant, and he understands the various needs of almost any type of decision maker when it comes to employee benefits.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Norman Munkholm Blue Ocean

Norman Munkholm

Vice President, Sales

Norm joined Blue Ocean in 2015 as an Executive Vice President. In this role, he is responsible for the introduction, acquisition, and transition of new clients, as well as the ongoing management of existing client relationships.

Norm specializes in financial analysis and developing creative funding strategies for his clients. His focus is on helping clients retain employees and control premium costs while remaining compliant in the administration of their benefit plans.

Norm has partnered with entrepreneurs and business owners from all sectors for over 25 years. Prior to joining Blue Ocean, Norm started and grew a dynamic regional insurance consulting firm that was later acquired by a global brokerage.

A fine food and college basketball enthusiast, Norm enjoys golf, tennis, and spending time with his family.

Alex Petronella

Vice President

Alex Petronella is a Vice President at Blue Ocean and has been in the industry for more than 25 years. He, like Matt, recognized a great opportunity to help employers directly and joined Blue Ocean as its first hire to develop long-term client relationships and provide guidance and both sales and operational expertise. His prior experience in those two area makes him a key contributor to Blue Ocean’s ethos.

Alex is an active member of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the State of New Jersey as well as the North New Jersey chapter. NAHU and its members not only work directly with all size employers to find affordable employee benefits plans, they also have direct political influence in Washington DC and each state advocating on behalf of employers, employees and individuals. Alex earned a Bachelor of Science with a major in Marketing and a minor in Computer Systems from FDU Madison.

Ellen manages the Operations team at Blue Ocean. It is her job to keep everything in the office running smoothly so our Account reps can focus 100% on providing exceptional service to our clients.

Jennifer Corelli Blue Ocean

Jennifer Corelli

Senior Account Manager

Jennifer heads up the Service team at Blue Ocean and is a key resource for our clients. An expert in the various plans that our clients buy, Jennifer acts as a liaison between members and the insurance carriers to answer questions about coverage and resolve any issues that may arise.

She is skilled at processing enrollments and terminations, expediting claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and providing guidance on plan administration and regulatory topics such as the Affordable Care Act, COBRA, HIPAA, NJ State Continuation, and Medicare.

Jennifer has been in the health/life insurance industry for over 20 years, including 5 years at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ.

Dawn Butler Blue Ocean

Dawn Butler

Account Manager

Dawn is an Account Manager at Blue Ocean. She handles a variety of day-to-day service issues for our clients – answering benefit questions, resolving claim issues, processing enrollment transactions, preparing materials for open enrollments, managing our online portal systems, and making sure that whatever needs to be done for our clients is being handled.

Dawn has spent her entire career in the Employee Benefits field, having held positions in Account Management, Underwriting, Sales, and Benefit Administration.
